Pacific Beach in San Diego is a vibrant and beautiful location on the sunny Southern California Coast. Working with TCA Architects, Chrestensen Design provided a modern coastal design solution for the branded signage, wayfinding and identity of this mixed-use center. Design Guidelines were created that dictated iconography, specific color palettes, materials and fastening hardware. Manufacturing methods such as board-formed concrete, pin-mounted lettering, and direct print applications were introduced to blend with the modern architectural aesthetic and support the feel of the community. While this development is primarily residential, it also incorporates a lower level of retail shops and merchandise opportunities. To assist with keeping the vision of the retail space in tact, we created a tenant criteria manual that addresses the design of all visible signage elements produced by the leasing tenants. Vibrant murals were created for the parking structure levels, elevator corridors were accentuated, and common spaces were branded with identity and regulatory signage to propel the guest experience. The strategic use of graphics and signage at Jefferson Pacific Beach adds another layer of sophistication to the community with success.
